Jeff Porter has joined 1900 Restaurant and Lounge as the new executive chef.

Owner Ken Oliver said Porter specializes in traditional Americana cuisine and also enjoys creating Asian-inspired dishes. Porter, who is also a pastry chef, makes all of the restaurant’s desserts as well.

“Jeff really represents the style of food I’ve always envisioned for 1900,” Oliver said. “His style and flavors are modern and sophisticated.”

In addition to small plates, the new menu features entrées and desserts. Items such as duck breast with root vegetables, diver scallops and pork belly have been popular since the menu’s debut two weeks ago, Oliver said. A macaroni and cheese dish with goat cheese and bacon, which was on the menu some time ago, has been brought back by popular demand.

“We realized that while many enjoy the small plates, we needed to add entrées to the menu to make it more well rounded,” Oliver said. “We’ve also added some vegetarian options.”

1900 Restaurant and Lounge, 1900 Eastwood Road, Suite 2 in Lumina Station, is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 10:30 p.m. The lounge is open until 2 a.m. The new menu will be available on 1900’s website by the end of the week.
