Two eateries that border our area beaches will celebrate first anniversaries this week. Both Ceviche’s Inspired Panamanian Restaurant & Bar and Wake N Bake Donuts opened their doors a year ago this coming week.

Ceviche’s owners Hunter and Laura Tiblier will celebrate by hosting an anniversary party from noon to 7 p.m. on Sept. 27. The party will include live music and food and drink specials throughout the day and free samples and T-shirts while supplies last.

Hunter Tiblier says that there are several specialty dishes that will be returning to the menu for the off season, and many will be available at the party.

“We have some amazing dishes that many of our customers have been asking us to return to the menu,” Tiblier said. “But many of them are very labor-intensive, and it was just too hard for us to keep them on the menu during the high season. Now we are happy to bring those dishes back for our locals.”

Despite delays that kept Ceviche’s from opening at the start of last summer, Tiblier reports first-year earnings to be well above his initial projections. He credits much of this to opening during the off season, which allowed the owners to work out the kinks, as well as to the arrival of chef Sam Cahoon.

“The delays we experienced initially really turned out to be a godsend,” Tiblier said. “Had we opened in the high season we might not have made it. Now we’re ahead of where we hoped to be and excited about what lies ahead.”

Wake N Bake will celebrate by giving away a free birthday donut with every purchase on Sept. 30.

“We had to come up with something amazing to reward our customers on our official birthday,” owner Danny Tangredi said in a statement to the press. “So this year we are taking the Birthday Cake Oreos and stuffing them inside the middle of a donut! With a little vanilla icing and confetti sprinkles, this should be the perfect present for our customers.”

Tangredi said Wake N Bake will also be hosting a scavenger hunt on and around University of North Carolina Wilmington’s campus with more giveaways and free doughnuts. More information about the scavenger hunt will be available to all Instagram and Facebook followers.

Ceviche’s Inspired Panamanian Restaurant & Bar is located at 7210 Wrightsville Ave. and Wake N Bake Donuts is located at 1401 N. Lake Park Blvd., Suite 46, in Carolina Beach.
