Joe and Diane Kloiber, along with son Joe Jr., have signed on as the Wilmington franchise owners of Famous Toastery. The Kloibers announced last week that they have secured a Wilmington location for the Charlotte-based gourmet breakfast chain, formerly known as Toast Café.

According to Diane Kloiber, minor renovations will soon be underway at 6722 Wrightsville Avenue, the former home of Havana’s Restaurant.

Robert Maynard and Brian Burchill opened their first Toast Café in Huntersville, North Carolina, in 2005. Famous Toastery evolved into a franchise system in 2013 and the company attributes its steady growth to a commitment to quality ingredients and exceptional service. Maynard and Burchill have trademarked the company’s slogan: “Every server is your server.”

“Customer service is a very important aspect of our business,” Diane Kloiber said. “It’s not just about taking orders, it’s about providing an experience that satisfies the customer on every level and gets them to return.”

She says that all servers work together to serve customers, pooling their tips. A job fair will be held next month and Kloiber expects to hire between 25 and 35 employees.

“What started out as a mom-and-pop has turned into something really exciting,” said co-founder Robert Maynard. “And it’s really exciting to be coming to Wilmington and the beach.”

Famous Toastery will serve breakfast and lunch daily, with a focus on traditional breakfast fare as well as fresh Maine lobster rolls, homemade soups and quiche, wraps and burgers. Catering will also be available.

An early December opening is expected.
