Former India Mahal owner Sunny Singh has plans for a new Indian restaurant in Ogden.

Renovations are currently underway at the 6828 Market St. location that was formerly Shuckers Oyster Bar & Grill.

Nawab Fine Indian Cuisine will feature both northern and southern Indian fare. Singh said that some of the same dishes he served at India Mahal will be on the menu, as well as a variety of new items. Singh, a chef by profession, operated India Mahal with his father from 1998 to 2014.

Nawab will serve a daily lunch buffet and have a full bar as well as an outdoor patio.

Singh says he was originally looking to open a restaurant in Greensboro, but when the Ogden  space became available he changed his mind. He said he felt there was little in the way of ethnic food available in the Ogden area and that his restaurant should be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

“Our No. 1 goal is customer satisfaction and consistent good food,” Singh said. “Nawab will offer great food in a great atmosphere at reasonable prices."

An early August opening is expected.
