The Charlotte-based gourmet breakfast chain Famous Toastery, formerly known as Toast Café, is seeking both corporate and franchise opportunities in the Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach areas, according to owners Robert Maynard and Brian Burchill.

Maynard and Burchill opened their first location in Huntersville, North Carolina, in 2005.

“What started out as a mom and pop has turned into something really exciting,” Maynard said. “And it’s really exciting to be coming to Wilmington and the beach.”

The company attributes its steady growth to a commitment to quality ingredients and exceptional service. Maynard and Burchill have trademarked the company’s slogan: “Every server is your server.”

“Every server works together to make sure patrons have everything they need,” Maynard said. “It’s truly a team effort and we have a unique service method that is really unlike anything you’ll find at other restaurants.”

The company is hoping to secure the first Wilmington location within four to six weeks. Maynard says while the food can be described as upscale breakfast, brunch and lunch, his restaurant will be the kind of place you can feel comfortable dining in your flip flops.

As for the menu, Famous Toastery specializes in standard breakfast fare such as omelettes, stuffed French toast and pancakes, as well as fresh Maine lobster rolls and handmade burgers.

“Our focus is on fresh food made daily,” Maynard said. “I know fresh is a buzzword these days, but we’re committed to it 100 percent.”
