Q&A: An Intro To The New COO Of Cape Fear Realtors

Stephania Bloodworth
Stephania Bloodworth has joined Cape Fear Realtors as the organization's chief operations officer.

A Pender County native who lives in Wilmington, Bloodworth has more than 20 years' worth of experience spanning finance, budgeting, operations, data analysis and fundraising, according to a CFR news release.

“Stephania is an excellent fit for this newly created position with her in-depth knowledge and experience of managing financial operations for both for profit and not-for-profit organizations,” said Anne Gardner, CEO of CFR, in the release.

A University of North Carolina Wilmington graduate, Bloodworth was the CFO of MedNorth Health Center in Wilmington before joining CFR. She is also vice chair of the UNCW Alumni Association and serves on the advisory board for the Randall Parkway branch of the State Employees Credit Union.

On Thursday, Bloodworth answered some questions about her new role and life:

GWBJ: What are your goals for Cape Fear Realtors in your new position?

Bloodworth: “Cape Fear Realtors has recently finalized their strategic plan, which is the association's guiding path. My goal is to provide operational and financial controls, improve administrative and reporting processes and implement systems to deliver value for our more than 3,500 members in the region. I am looking forward to partnering with Anne Gardner, CEO, to provide additional leadership and direction to operate in the most efficient way possible.”

GWBJ: What kinds of things do you like to do outside of work?

Bloodworth: "I like to do event planning on the side. I do have two boys. They are currently 19 and 22 and both in college. One is at North Carolina A&T State University, where he's majoring in biological engineering, and the other is at ECU majoring in industrial management. I definitely like to spend time with them as well, both my husband and I. With event planning I also plan family trips. When we say 'family trips,' I mean like a bus of 50 people, so I've been doing that since 2014. We will pick a location to go to and I will take them and I've always had a passion for that when it comes to family trips and weddings, baby showers or birthdays or just help organizing and putting those events together."

GWBJ: Is organization something that you're passionate about?

Bloodworth: "Oh yes, organization's a must. I think it's extremely important in any area, whether it's personal or professional. I think it is something that helps lead to success."

GWBJ: Is there anything else you want to share about yourself or your new position?

Bloodworth: “This is a new industry for me; however the skill set that I’ve developed over the course of my career is transferable to any business. I’m excited for this new opportunity to join the CFR team and help make a positive impact within the organization.”
