A new neighborhood planned at RiverLights, the 1,400-acre community on the rise off River Road in Wilmington, is expected to feature homes overlooking the Cape Fear River.

For the first selection of homes in what will be called Hamp's Landing (pictured in an illustration below), according to a news release from RiverLights, the developers have chosen builder team member PBC Design + Build, a homebuilder based in Wilmington. The release stated that PBC was picked because of its track record of high-quality construction "and a superlative level of finishes."

The release said homeowners will be able to choose from PBC's portfolio and customize their homes with desired features, or work with a chosen architect to design a one-of-a-kind dwelling from start to finish.

A home in Hamp's Landing "will be distinguished by its large size, lush vegetation and unparalleled river views," the release stated. "The neighborhood's sensitive land plan calls for homes to be sited carefully within the wooded surroundings, maintaining the canopy created by the oaks, pines and cedars arching over the riverbank."

Building materials will include brick, cedar shake or Hardie siding, along with expansive windows, the release stated.

PBC has also been building a different type of home at RiverLights.

"Our Marina Village townhomes have been a tremendous success and a great baseline for Hamp’s Landing using many of the same high quality materials and finishes," said Dave Spetrino, founder of PBC.  "We are just over 50% complete with our Marina Village community and Hamp’s Landing is a great opportunity to offer prospective clients with an alternative to our RiverView Townes within Marina Village."

RiverLights is owned by North American Sekisui House LLC (NASH) and is being developed by Newland Real Estate Group LLC.

When asked about what he thinks of the progress RiverLights has made so far, Spetrino said, "Newland is our country’s premiere developer and it’s an incredible endorsement to the growth and success of Wilmington to see a firm like Newland bring their resources, expertise and vision to an otherwise smaller market.

"The community has a wide range of sizes, prices and styles but Newland (and the local RiverLights team) have worked hard to create a cohesive, inclusive and compelling community."

The RiverLights spring sales event, NestFest, will be held noon to 3 p.m. April 13 and will highlight Hamp's Landing.

"During NestFest, Legacy Homes by Bill Clark, Laurel Homes, Pulte and PBC Design + Build will each showcase brand-new, fully furnished model homes for guests to see, including homes in the recently announced exclusive Hamp’s Landing neighborhood," a RiverLights news release stated.

More details about the event are on the community's Facebook page.
