An apartment community comprised solely of one-bedroom units is nearing completion on a site across from the Echo Farms Golf & Country Club.

Owned by Tribute Properties, Arbor Trace includes 184 one-bedroom apartments in eight buildings, and construction is expected to be finished by mid-June, said Heather Nealey, community manager.

The project was previously known as Echo Farms Apartments and has an entrance off of Echo Farms Boulevard, but Arbor Trace is not affiliated with the developers of Echo Farms.

Twenty percent of the units at Arbor Trace, which can be seen but not entered in the 4000 block of Carolina Beach Road, are occupied and 35 percent are pre-leased, Nealey said.

"We've already got 20 move-ins scheduled for the month of May, but we're constantly getting applications in, at least two to three a day," Nealey said. "Come the first of August, if we keep this rate up, we're thinking we're going to be really close to about 90 percent [leased] at that point."

Rents for the 700-square-foot apartments start at $829. Amenities include a dog park, pet spa, 24-hour fitness center and a saltwater swimming pool, and apartments contain polished concrete countertops, plank-style flooring and stackable washers and dyers, Nealey said.

"Along with an excellent amenity package and desirable location, we feel Tribute is meeting the needs of the community as the neighborhood around Independence Blvd. and Carolina Beach Road continues to grow with more dining, retail, and job opportunities," said Paul D'Angelo, spokesman for Tribute Properties, in an email.

Nealey said the community is expected to host a grand opening celebration June 15.

Including the 184 units in Arbor Trace, more than 2,200 apartments have been under construction in the Wilmington market this year, according to a recent report.
