Trask Land Partners With Cary-based Firm On Senior Community

By Cece Nunn, posted Mar 25, 2016
A local development company is partnering with a Cary-based firm that specializes in residential rehabilitative care for seniors to build a senior living community in Pender County.

The project is expected to be part of Blake Farm, a master planned, mixed-use development in the works by Trask Land Co. on 1,300 acres in Scotts Hill.

A Trask Land Co. news release on Thursday said the company, based in Wilmington, is announcing a joint venture with Peak Resources to build and operate a state-of-the-art, 200-unit, luxury apartment community for seniors. The apartments will include home-care units and be located near Blake Farm’s garden apartments and a new YMCA facility.

In addition to rehab care, Peak Resources also offers long-term and medical care for seniors, currently operating eight facilities across North Carolina, according to the release.

“We are delighted to partner with Peak Resources who truly value creating an active and enjoyable living experience every day,” said Raiford Trask III of Trask Land Co. in the announcement.  “We are also excited to begin assembling our development team for this portion of the Blake Farm community.”

Residents will be offered a variety of supportive care and medical services, the release said, including wellness programs, home care and assistance, home health services, therapy and rehabilitation services.  The senior apartments are planned to come with “a first-class dining experience” along with a theater, library and a cards and billiards room, according to the release.

“It was very clear early on that Trask Land and Peak Resources both share a common vision and core values.
Building a five-star community with first-class services will allow us to enhance the lives of seniors.  We could not be more thrilled with the opportunity to join Trask Land and see our vision come to life,” said Todd W. Nunn, CEO of Peak Resources, in the announcement.

Pre-leasing for Blake Farm Senior Living is planned to begin in the fall of this year with an expected opening in the first quarter of 2018, according to the release. There will be numerous leasing options with many different room designs, as well as monthly and annual leasing options, the release said.

Trask Land Co. expects to deliver the first phase of 88 single family homes in Blake Farm by the summer of 2017. The company’s builder team is also in the planning phases for 240 garden-style apartments, YMCA fields and facilities and an event center with amphitheater.
