Brunswick County Home Sales Jumped 48 Percent In April, MLS Shows

By Cece Nunn, posted May 29, 2015
Home sales continue to rise at a rapid pace in Brunswick County, according to April statistics released Friday by the Brunswick County Association of Realtors.

The number of units sold in the county jumped 48 percent over April 2014, according to a news release from the association, which bases its information on Brunswick County Multiple Listing Service data. At the same time, prices dipped about 2 percent.

Meanwhile, the number of single-family homes sold in the larger region of Brunswick, Bladen and Columbus counties experienced nearly the same rate of growth in April - an increase of 47.8 percent over April 2014, the association's news release said.

"These numbers reinforce the fact that the real estate market in Brunswick, Columbus and Bladen counties is trending in the right direction," said Cynthia Cumbie, interim CEO of the BCAR, in the release.

Cumbie also noted that the total sales volume for Brunswick alone rose 44.7 percent last month compared to April last year, the number of lots sold increased more than 25 percent and the number of distressed lot sales dropped by more than 77 percent.

"Those are positive signs, which point to a strong real estate market in the month and years to come," Cumbie said.
