New Single-family Subdivision Proposed For Independence Blvd.

By Cece Nunn, posted Apr 13, 2015
Developers want to build a new single-family subdivision on Independence Boulevard, according to site plans submitted to the city of Wilmington.

The plans propose 93 homes on a little more than 31 acres of undeveloped land around 4060 Independence Blvd., owned by Hoosier Daddy LLC.

The subdivision across from Echo Farms Boulevard would be called Echo West, according to drawings submitted to the city by Stroud Engineering. The land is zoned multi-family medium density, or MF-M.

The city’s Technical Review Committee is scheduled to discuss the subdivision plat at 11:15 a.m. during the panel’s April 23 meeting in a room on the fourth floor at 305 Chestnut St.

Hoosier Daddy LLC bought land on Independence Boulevard and River Road for $2.1 million in December from Redus NC Coastal LLC, according to New Hanover County property tax records. In September, the company also bought more than 100 acres in the 5800 and 5900 blocks of Carolina Beach Road from CBR LLC for $1.25 million.

Sam Burgess, senior planner with New Hanover County’s Development Services, said no plans have been submitted for the Carolina Beach Road land, which is in an unincorporated portion of the county.
