New Home Sales Still On Rise In October, WRAR Stats Show

By Cece Nunn, posted Nov 10, 2014
New home sales continued their upward trend in October, according to the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors.

The WRAR's statistics show 559 single-family homes sold in the area in October, an increase of 77 units, or nearly 16 percent, over last year's number for the same month.

Also on the rise were the average sales price of new homes, at $258,491, and median sales price, at $210,000, according to WRAR data.

"The Wilmington area continues so see improvements in the marketplace. Number of sold units and average and median price had a nice boost last month," said Jody Wainio, president of WRAR, in an email.

Last month also saw an increase in new listings -- 929 compared to 816 in October 2013.

Wainio said a number of factors are helping bolster real estate activity.

"Interest rates continue to remain at low levels for now, and inventory allows for great choices," she said.
