Home Sales Up, Average Sales Price Down In September

By Cece Nunn, posted Oct 13, 2014
Twenty-nine more homes sold in September this year than in the same month last year, but the average sales price was lower, according to MLS statistics compiled by the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors.

During September 2013, 541 homes sold, while 570 homes sold this September. The average sale price of the homes sold in September 2014 was $227,552, compared to September 2013’s average of $239,192.

The numbers show that the quantity of homes was good, and better than last year, but were lower-priced compared to September 2013 and August 2014, said Jody Wainio, WRAR president, in an email Monday.

The August numbers for this year, according to the WRAR MLS statistics, showed home sales were up by 15 more homes from the same month last year, and the average sales price for August 2014 was $256,194.
