Thrifty Office Furniture has expanded its location in Wilmington.

The store has doubled in size at 5101 Dunlea Court by adding 1,500 square feet for a total of 3,000 square feet, said Hannah Cresimore, marketing director for Thrifty Office Furniture, which has other locations in Raleigh and Burlington.

The store is celebrating the larger space on Wednesday, according to a news release from the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. 

"We have brought our used furniture, our pre-owned [furniture] to this area," Cresimore said. "We have three different locations. Two of them have had used furniture, the capability for us to have used furniture for people to buy and walk away with, and this store did not. And so we saw the opportunity and took it."

The store has been located in Wilmington for 13 years, she said, adding that there has been more business coming in through the home office market due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"There are still businesses that are going and operating and we are still in [that market] as well. But we've had to switch to more residential as of lately," Cresimore said.

Thrifty Office Furniture has over 100 alternative furniture suppliers and also maintains a large selection of previously owned products. The firm offers a range of services from in-store options to delivery and office moving, according to its website.

There are two full-time employees working in the store. The store also has two delivery drivers working with the firm, Cresimore said. The growth in Wilmington, however, could also allow for additional employees.

Cresimore said the store has to "get going, up and running, and see how it goes. But definitely, there is a possibility."
