A national provider of childcare and preschool programs is adding a new facility in Wilmington.

Kiddie Academy of Wilmington South, which will be owned and operated by Ken and Jill Batchelor and Carly Nunalee, is under construction at 2310 Canterwood Drive.

The new academy, designed by Becker Morgan Group, will be 14,000 square feet and is scheduled to open in fall 2019.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to extend Kiddie Academy’s advanced curriculum and philosophies to local children and families with our second location,” Nunalee said in a news release. “Our goal at Kiddie Academy is to feed a child’s curiosity and instinct to learn. My team is dedicated to delivering the highest quality educational child care possible to positively shape the lives of the children and families of the Wilmington community.”

The other Kiddie Academy location in Wilmington is located at 7633 Market St. A groundbreaking celebration for Kiddie Academy of Wilmington South was held earlier this month.

Kiddie Academy was founded in 1981, and Kiddie Academy of Wilmington South is part of a network of more than 210 locations nationwide.
