County Commissioner Moves Law Practice To Eastwood Road

By Cece Nunn, posted Feb 27, 2015
After 10 years in the same office, New Hanover County commissioner and attorney Woody White is moving his law practice from Racine Drive to Eastwood Road.

White said the move will be complete by March 2, and at the same time, his longtime partnership with attorney J.C. Hearne in White & Hearne LLP will be dissolved.

Both White and Hearne said the split was an amicable one and that White will have room to expand his practice in his new office at Suite 201, 2004 Eastwood Road. The new location, a 2,200-square-foot space formerly occupied by Envision Mortgage before its merger with North State Bank Mortgage, is nearly double the space White had previously.

“This is a big move for us,” said White, whose associates James Blanton and Melissa Collins are joining him in the new office. “We’ve enjoyed where we are; we just think this is a better location and more space, and we needed more space because of our growth.”

White and Hearne have different kinds of law practices – Hearne said he considers his an “office practice” focusing mainly on residential and commercial real estate, corporate law, wills and estate administration, while White said his is more courtroom based, involving criminal cases and civil litigation.

Hearne will stay at 265 Racine Drive, in a building in which White still retains part-ownership.

“This is where I want to be,” Hearne said.

Hearne and White said they opened the Racine Drive office in 2004 but also worked together before that.

“J.C. and I have been in business together since 2000 and have a great friendship,” White said. “This is just an opportunity for me to grow my area of practice.”

White’s new Web address will be woodywhitelaw.com.
