Roofing Supply Firm Settles In On N. 23rd Street

By Cece Nunn, posted Sep 19, 2014
A roofing supply distribution company is close to completing renovations at a 41,000-square-foot facility the firm moved into in August.

Branch Manager Jim Thompson said Wednesday that Superior Distribution is open for business at 2318 N. 23rd St. in Wilmington, and the offices and showroom that are being revamped should be complete in about two weeks.

The company, a wholesale distributor of roofing supplies, is a division of SRS Distribution Corp., which has more than 120 locations across the U.S.

“Strategically, the company viewed Wilmington as an area that they wanted to get into” because of the growth potential of New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick counties, Thompson said.

The company is leasing the Wilmington location for an undisclosed amount, he said. MarKraft Cabinets, a longtime Wilmington company, used to operate a warehouse and distribution center at that address but outgrew the space.

“It’s a great location. It’s right by the airport,” Thompson said, and it comes with easy access to Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, he said.

The branch has seven employees.
