BlueTone Media Moves To Larger Space

By Meg Garner, posted Jun 23, 2014
BlueTone Media’s offices changed, but the web design firm still sees a familiar view.

Wilmington-based BlueTone Media moved its offices to the sixth floor of the Murchison Building, 201 N. Front St. The firm was located on the ninth floor of the downtown building but was forced to move when it outgrew its former space.

“Considering its long-standing relationship with the staff and other tenants at the Murchison, to go anywhere else would have been a saddening choice to make,” the company stated in a press release.

After signing a five-year lease on its new space, the design began five months of renovations.

Jimmy Honsinger, owner of BlueTone Media, said he and his employees have moved into renovated the 2,700-square-foot office suite.

With new hardwood floors, glass-paneled walls and exposed ceilings, the offices are “definitely unique from other spaces in the building,” Honsinger said.

The offices are considerably larger than the firm’s former 1,500-square-foot suite on the ninth floor, and with the added square footage, Honsinger was able to add to his staff, bringing it to a total of 17.

“We’ve recently hired two new employees,” he said. “One is a business development specialist, and the other is an additional programmer. And we might be looking for one or two more new people as well.”

The Murchison Building was recently bought at auction by Thomas Simpson of Wilmington Development Partners LLC.

Honsinger said the building’s new owner stopped by to introduce himself and to let Honsinger know what plans were in store for the historic space.

“He said his first goal is that he’s planning on getting the elevator fixed,” Honsinger said. “Then he wants the scaffolding removed and the outside worked on.”
