Midtown Apartment Homes Set To Rise In Tiburon Parc

A 223-unit apartment project will soon anchor a large office development in midtown.

Officials recently broke ground on the $26 million, 14-acre Midtown Apartment Homes community that’s set to rise in the Tiburon Parc office development, Brian Eckel, partner of Wilmington-based Cape Fear Commercial, said in an email Thursday.

Tiburon Parc is a 105-acre, class-A office development that’s home to Live Oak Bank’s headquarters as well as a 55,140-square-foot office now under construction for its nCino division.

Plans call for the first units of Midtown Apartment Homes to be delivered in late fall, with the complete development coming onboard by the summer of 2015, Eckel said.

Rents will range from $950 to $1,650.

Located at the corner of Independence Boulevard and Tiburon Drive, the development will be built by Wilmington-based Harold K. Jordan, while Charlotte-based Housing Studio completed the architectural renderings.

Consisting of mostly three-story buildings and one four-story structure, the luxury apartment community will include one-, two- and three-bedroom units with stainless steel appliances, washers and dryers and granite countertops, Eckel said. Community amenities include a pool, outdoor kitchen, bike storage building, dog park and several pocket parks throughout the complex.

The site will also connect with the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail and is within walking distance of Live Oak Bank and the Verizon call center, Eckel said.

Bill Schoettelkotte, who oversees Cape Fear Development Services for Cape Fear Commercial, and Jim Smith, development manager with Wilmington-based Oleander Company, are the project managers tasked with managing the joint venture between the two companies, Eckel said.  

Upon its completion, Midtown Apartment Homes will be managed by Charleston, S.C.-based Greystar, which also currently oversees leasing and management duties at Headwaters at Autumn Hall on Eastwood Road.
