In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Port City Java will be rolling back prices and offering 12-ounce coffees for 85 cents per cup March 23-27 at participating locations. Customers will see baristas in special uniforms, and commemorative mugs will be for sale.

Beginning this week, Port City Java will introduce Brazil Fazenda Santa Lucia Reserve coffee at all locations. Scott McLean, PCJ director of roasting, discovered the coffee on a trip to Brazil in  August.

“Over the course of four days, we visited seven farms and sampled over 150 different coffees from the Carmo de Minas region,” McLean said. “Just like Napa Valley offers the perfect growing conditions for fine wine in our country, the Carmo de Minas region offers an ideal climate for growing specialty coffee. The Fazenda Santa Lucia coffee really stood out to me because of the creamy body and sweet, fruity flavors. I picked up brown sugar, caramel, strawberry and notes of almond as well. It’s a truly remarkable coffee and we can’t wait to share it with our guests.”

The reserve coffee will be available for $17.95 per 12-ounce bag for a limited time.

“It is a slightly higher price point than our other retail coffees because of the higher quality and cup profile,” marketing manager Megan Mullins said.

In-store sampling will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations on the dates shown:

March 7 at Porters Neck and Lumina Station
March 14 at Porters Neck and Lumina Station
March 21 at Downtown and Racine Drive
March 28 Downtown and Racine Drive
