The NC Cape Fear Chapter celebrates the 2010 philanthropic heroes listed below whose generosity inspires us and serves as an example for generations of leaders.

Dickson Baldridge
Dickson's life is a model of service and dedication, establishing the Cape Fear Community Foundation shortly after moving to Wilmington and helping to form the Senior Men's Club and the Cape Fear River Watch. He has donated his time, talent, and treasure to organizations such as Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity, Food Bank, Carolina Canines, and the YMCA and epitomizes the meaning of philanthropy: love of mankind and promotion of the common good.

Louise Coggins
Louise's personal generosity and community leadership inspires, motivates, and empowers her recipients and her peers. Every year, she and her husband donate 30% of their income to charities such as Good Shepherd Ministries, Planned Parenthood, YWCA, NC Coastal Land Trust and their church. She focuses on education and public policy as the impetus for a changed life, serving on university advisory boards, raising millions of dollars for UNC's School of Social Work, and raising $250,000+ for political candidates.

Corning, Inc.
Through employee giving, Corning offers more than $293,000 to nonprofit educational endowments, cultural and community agencies such as CFCC, UNCW, Cameron Art Museum, Cape Fear Museum, SMART START, YMCA, YWCA, Wilmington Concert Association, Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, NC Chamber, and Wilmington Industrial Development. Corning employees volunteer throughout the community in many area nonprofits. The company also invites representatives from local nonprofits to its agency fairs in order to increase awareness of their missions.

Reed Wallace
Asthe only fulltime employee at the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, Reed balances his fundraising efforts with arranging music, event planning, and overseeing the day to day operations. Reed's creativity was recognized last year by the US Commerce Association who presented the organization with a Best of Wilmington Award for their marketing success. Reed was instrumental in the start up of the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals which is a vital resource to area nonprofit leaders.

Bo Dean
Bo Dean Bo spends his time raising money for nonprofits in order to create a better Wilmington. These include UNCW, Cape Fear Community College, WHQR, Coastal Horizons, Phoenix Employment Ministry, New Hanover County Public Health, Wilmington Symphony, and Wilmington Housing Authority. In addition to raising over $15,000 for American Heart Association, bo exemplified good heart health by losing 90 pounds and sharing his experience with others.

• Outstanding Student Philanthropist of the Year (Click to Learn About Award Category)

UNCW Chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon
The mission statement of UNCW's chapter of PSE includes "being a positive influence on our university, community, and nation." To fulfill that part of their mission, the organization develops and executes a variety of service projects including: Thanks-for-Giving, which collected 85 bags of food, toiletries, medicine and other household items from 200 local homes and apartments for Good Shepherd Ministries; Cameron Gives Back, which collected $1900 of items from students, faculty, and staff for several area nonprofits; free marketing services for the Boys and Girls Home of NC; and Read Across America, an annual fundraiser on Dr. Seuss' birthday to benefit the library at EA Alderman Elementary School.
