Full Belly Project To Announce New Mission, Vision

By Jessica Maurer, posted Jan 24, 2018

Amanda Coulter, executive director of the Full Belly Project, will soon announce a new mission and new vision for the organization that was founded in 2001.

Since its inception, the Full Belly Project has worked to find ways to design and distribute income-generating devices that improve life in rural communities worldwide.

Coulter, who has a master’s degree in global affairs, began her work with the Full Belly Project as a volunteer, and was asked to take on the role of executive director after just six months.

“It was my dream come true,” Coulter said. “I’ve always been very globally minded and interested in how to help with the problems that disadvantaged populations face.”

Her plans for the future of the Full Belly Project will be announced March 24 at the organization's annual gala, the Fully Belly Feast, and Coulter is putting a whole new twist on this year’s event.

“The event has been held at the Coastline Convention Center every year since we began hosting it,” Coulter said. “I believed it was time, if not maybe past time, to mix things up a bit.”

This year’s event will be a more formal affair, held at the Brooklyn Arts Center. It will feature passed hors d’oeuvres from Milner’s Cafe and Catering and music from the Phantom Playboys. There will be a full cash bar and silent auction.

“We are working with the local community to make a global impact,” Coulter said. “The people of Wilmington are helping to make a difference around the world.”

Tickets for the event are $50 and can be purchased by phone at (910) 452-0975 or online.
