Philanthropy Event Includes Awards Presentation

By Corbin Murray, posted Nov 6, 2012

The community’s most active donors and effective fundraisers will be honored at the 2012 National Philanthropy Day Awards Breakfast on Thursday. Hosted by the Cape Fear chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the event takes place starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside.

Tuesday is the last day to purchase tickets for the event, and there are just a few seats remaining, said Tracey Kellogg, event chair.

Proceeds from the breakfast will help promote professional development for fundraisers in the Cape Fear Region by offering scholarships and educational opportunities to both members and non-members.

Among the awards being presented at the breakfast are Philanthropist of the Year, Philanthropic Organization of the Year and Student and Youth Fundraiser of the Year. Nine organizations and 17 individuals have been nominated for awards.

Nationally known volunteer management expert and distinguished professor at University of North Carolina Wilmington faculty member Jeffrey L. Brudney is the keynote speaker.

Cost to attend the breakfast is $35. To register, call Kellogg at 796-7962.
