The Eshelman Foundation awarded $150,000 in grants earlier this month to eight local charitable organizations.
This year’s recipients are the American Red Cross - Cape Fear Chapter, UNC Horizons, Communities in Schools of Cape Fear, NC Children’s Hospital and the NC Children’s Promise, Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina, Panacea Adventures, Kids Making It and Wilmington Health Access for Teens.
The private family foundation focuses on “improving the quality of life for children living in our local communities through support of solution-based programs that focus on pediatric health care and educational related issues.”
It is run by PPD founder Fred Eshelman’s daughter, executive director Kimberly Eshelman and was founded in 2008.
