Beach & Barn Raises $230K

By Johanna Cano, posted Nov 19, 2019
Beach & Barn Group, a Wrightsville Beach-headquartered clothing company, has raised $230,000 in a private equity offering, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The money was raised from seven investors through debt and other security options, according to the filing.

Company officials, reached Tuesday, did not disclose what the funding would be used for.

Beach & Barn was started in 2015 by Russell Meador, a former carpenter. The company was originally a carpentry firm but pivoted to clothing and accessories after its surfboarding rooster logo became popular.

The company carries its Port City Polo shirts, T-shirts, hoodies, hats and stickers with its logo, as well as its Center Console line featuring boating symbols.

The apparel company sells its products online and at more than 25 retailers in the Wilmington area; Jacksonville, North Carolina; Atlanta; Charleston, South Carolina; and Delaware among other locations, according to its website.

“We're a growing clothing company that loves small towns and large bodies of water,” stated the company’s website. “Our flagship products are our 100% American grown and sewn pima cotton tees, and our brand-new Port City Polo."

This is the first time the company has raised money through a private equity offering.
