Coastal Select Properties’ new larger location is a result of the slow but steady growth of the locally owned company, said founder and broker in charge Tricia Ireland.

The real estate agency moved from its former location at 115 Nun St. and opened its new location at 213 N. Second St. in June. Ireland said they decided to move to a bigger 2,000-square-foot space to accommodate for the company’s growth and style.

“I was growing the business, and I wanted something that was more brick-and-mortar, something more residential than commercial,” Ireland said. “I was drawn to [the] northern side of town because there is room to grow.”

Ireland said client’s reception of the new place has been positive, pointing out the appeal of the new location.

“We decorated it in mid-century style, so it feels more like a living room than an office space. We have couches, a lounge area, so it is a really relaxed environment,” Ireland said.

Staying downtown was essential for the company. Ireland said she has lived downtown for many years and that being located downtown allows the agency to maintain its hyperlocal focus.

“We hold meetings at local restaurants and take clients to local restaurants, and we now have small walking tours that we can take our clients to show them the community,” she said.

Other ways the agency gives back to the community is by using local products as closing gifts and, according to a news release, a percentage of profits is reserved for local nonprofits and is allocated on a per-client and per-agent basis.

Ireland said some of the sponsored nonprofits are the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Good Shepherd Center.

There will be a grand opening of the new location along with a celebration of the company’s fifth anniversary on July 27 from 6 to 9 p.m.  The opening will feature an art gallery as part of downtown Wilmington’s Fourth Friday Gallery Walk where there will be paintings by Nancy Smith and pottery by Amanda Bolton.

Ireland said business has been great over the past five years, and she is looking forward to more growth.

“I started with one agent. Now we have six agents and an assistant, so we’ve had slow and steady growth,” she said. “Part of moving to this space with more room is to bring on more agents.”
