ECU Dental School Opens Learning Center In Bolivia

By Jeff Hidek, posted Jun 22, 2016
East Carolina University’s School of Dental Medicine has opened a Community Service Learning Center in Bolivia.

Combining education with patient care, the facility hosts faculty members who lead fourth-year dental students on clinical rotations.

Similar centers in the state are in Ahoskie, Elizabeth City, Davidson County, Lillington, Robeson County, Spruce Pine and Sylva.

After their rotations, dental students move into a one-year dental residency program at the clinics.

ECU’s community service learning centers are open to all community members and offer general dental services for adults, children and special needs patients. Dental insurance, including Medicaid, is accepted.

All the clinics have the same architectural features and contain 7,700 square feet of space with 16 operatories, state-of-the-art equipment, wheel chair lift, 3D imaging and an endodontic microscope.

The Brunswick clinic is near Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center at 100 Brunswick Medical Center Parkway in Bolivia.
