Wilmington Triangle Rent A Car Location Now Under Enterprise Banner

By Jenny Callison, posted Feb 16, 2015
There’s a new look at the former Triangle Rent A Car location at 4124 Market St. Covering the old signage are temporary banners displaying the Enterprise Rent-A-Car logo, following Thursday’s purchase of Raleigh-based Triangle by Enterprise Holdings, which owns and operates the Enterprise, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent-A-Car brands.

While the official change came Thursday, Triangle locations had a few weeks’ notice of the acquisition, said Wilmington location manager Richard Wilkinson on Monday.

“We’re real happy so far with the transition,” he said, noting that he does not anticipate any changes in day-to-day operations, except that “hopefully, we’ll increase our business.”

The three existing Enterprise locations in Wilmington will remain in place, he said. Two local Enterprise employees have been in his store, helping convert the systems, and regional company representatives have also visited the store.

“We are looking forward; this is an opportunity,” Wilkinson said. “All our employees are still here.”

In its announcement of the acquisition, St. Louis-based Enterprise Holdings stated its goal is to “retain the approximately 300 full- and part-time Triangle Rent A Car employees.”

Triangle Rent A Car has been in Wilmington for more than 20 years, Wilkinson said. He has managed the location for about eight years. The Wilmington location was Triangle's only operation in southeastern North Carolina, according to the company's website.

Of Triangle’s 29 locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia, 22 are now operating under the Enterprise brand, while the remaining seven are doing business as Alamo Rent-A-Car.

"As family-owned companies, Enterprise Holdings and Triangle Rent A Car share many of the same values, including our customer service philosophies," Frank Colonna, president of Triangle Rent A Car, said in Friday’s news release from Enterprise Holdings that announced the purchase. "Given Enterprise's vast resources and strong focus on putting the customer first, I'm confident that our loyal customers, employees and business partners are in good hands with Enterprise."
