Beach2Battleship Secures Major Sponsor

PPD’s Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon has secured a major sponsor for its 2014 race, scheduled for Oct. 25, officials announced Wednesday.

CLIF Bar will be the “official and exclusive” energy bar, gel and chew sponsor of the Beach2Battleship for the next two years, according to a news release from the race organization.

“CLIF Bar is a world-renowned brand with unsurpassed products and a commitment to sustainability,” said Dick Jones, CEO of the Wilmington Family YMCA and chair of the PPD Beach2Battleship Triathlon, in a news release.

Triathlete magazine has ranked the PPD Beach2Battleship Triathlon among the top five iron distance triathlons in the world, according to the release. More than 2,000 athletes, including 19 international competitors and triathletes from 42 U.S. states, participated in the 2013 race –helping generate more than $4 million in local economic impact.

Funds raised by the race benefit the Wilmington Family YMCA.
