Daniels Elected Head Of UNCW Trustees

The University of North Carolina Wilmington Board of Trustees elected new board officers Friday, including Wilma Daniels as chairwoman, according to school officials.
 
Daniels, a university trustee since 2008, takes over the post from Michael Shiver, owner of Kinston Insurance Service Agency who served as board chairman for two years.
 
Daniels is founder and CEO of Daniels Development LLC and founder and property manager of William Hooper Apartments.
  
“I look forward to working with my fellow officers and board members to continue advancing the university's vision,” Daniels said in a news release.
 
Other officers elected for the 2016-17 academic year on UNCW’s governing board were:
  • Vice Chairman – Ronald McNeill, vice president and chief financial officer of Liberty Healthcare Services and UNCW trustee since 2011
  • Secretary – Henry "Hal" Kitchin Jr., partner in the McGuireWoods law firm and trustee since 2013
