Realty firm creates VP positions
Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage announced that Ted Hardeen, Carolyn Thomason, Tom Spencer, Brian Moxey and David Benford have been named to the company’s newly created vice president positions. Hardeen was promoted to senior vice president of marketing and new home communities. He has been with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage since 1993.

Thomason was promoted to vice president of public relations and has been with the company since 1987. Spencer was promoted to vice president and serves as general manager. He has been with the company since 2001. Moxey was promoted to vice president of business development and has been a part of the company’s team since 2009. Benford joined the group as its vice president of operations and brings 20 years of real estate experience to the company.

Cape Fear National hires new course general manager
Cape Fear National at Brunswick Forest has hired Ron Thomason as the golf course’s general manager. Thomason came to Cape Fear National in August 2009 as head golf professional. As the general manager, Thomason is responsible for managing and directing the overall operational performance of Cape Fear National as well as the Brunswick Forest Fitness and Wellness Center.

VP hired for First Bank’s Landfall branch
First Bank named Mark Shuffler as vice president, business development officer of its Wilmington-Landfall branch. Originally from Wallace, Shuffler attended Wallace-Rose Hill High School before going on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Ibrahim named as CFCC trustee
Sam Ibrahim
, vice president of information technology for Intracoastal Realty, was appointed to the Board of Trustees for Cape Fear Community College. His position is one of four appointed to the college’s governing board by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners. Ibrahim has been with Intracoastal Realty since 1999.

Two Dosher Memorial ER nurses receive board certification
Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport recently announced that two of its emergency department nurses, Kelli Edens and Melinda Williams, successfully completed the requirements of the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN), and have earned their BCEN Emergency Nurse Certification. To obtain the certification, Edens and Williams demonstrated a mastery of a rigorous body of emergency nursing knowledge across the emergency care continuum.

Cape Fear Academy hires development director
Dawn Carter was hired as the development director with Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington. She started in early July. Formerly, Carter was the director of resource development for Good Shepherd Center, the largest homeless shelter and soup kitchen in Wilmington, where she oversaw fundraising, special events, volunteer coordination and donor relations for the center.

Area lawyer wins legal award
Wilmington attorney Kathleen Glancy received the N.C. Advocates for Justice’s Thurgood Marshall Award during the group’s annual convention in Wilmington. Glancy, who specializes in workers’ compensation law, has practiced in Wilmington and Williamston since 1985.
