Wilmington lawyer opens own practice
Wilmington-based attorney H. MARK HAMLET has formed a new practice, Hamlet and Associates PLLC, focusing on civil litigation, mediation, construction litigation and business planning throughout North and South Carolina.

Hamlet will be joined by associates PATRICIA COWART-COUGHLAN, REBECCA SCHERRER and NICOLE SLAUGHTER.  
Hamlet, a former partner at Williams Mullen law firm, brings experience in the areas of commercial litigation, construction law, product liability, and insurance coverage and defense.

CFCC instructor serves on NSF board

, the lead instructor of chemical technology at Cape Fear Community College, was selected for a third time to participate as a grant reviewer for the National Science Foundation. Holbrook will travel to Washington, D.C. in July to review grant proposals submitted to the Transforming Undergraduate Education in Science, Engineering and Mathematics program, which aims to improve the quality of undergraduate education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Local family physician wins two awards
South East Area Health Education Center physician BONZO REDDICK received two awards for his work with the New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s family medicine residency program. Reddick was awarded the Clinical Preceptor Excellence in Teaching Award for outstanding faculty teaching and the 30th Annual Citron Award for excellence as a family physician and educator.

Becker Morgan Group welcomes architect
Becker Morgan Group recently announced that L. MARK LOUDERMILK has joined the firm as an associate at the Wilmington office.

Loudermilk has more than 18 years of architectural experience in the southeastern region. He holds a national certificate with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and is actively involved with the American Institute of Architects.

The Leadership Wilmington class of 2012 graduated in May. Members of the graduating class include

The program is led by the Wilmington Chamber Foundation and is designed to educate, challenge and motivate leaders to utilize skills to work for the betterment of our community.

Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage names VP
Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage has named DAVID BENFORD as its vice president and director of operations. In the position, Benford “will help to shape the company’s sales, marketing and budgeting strategies,” according to a press release. Benford was previously a sales manager at Sea Coast Advantage from 1993 to 1995. He later owned his own real estate company, Harbour Town Associates, in Wilmington.
