The Chamber Liaison program was designed to help build a sense of community for Chamber members and provide them networking, business development and social opportunities with one another.
“Liaisons will be a blend of mentor and buddy, helping engage members and increase the lines of communication,” said Connie Majure-Rhett, president and CEO of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce.
In the program, groups of four or five businesses will be assigned to a Liaison who will organize small, informal meetings to help foster relationships among the Chamber members and encourage the Chamber culture of utilizing other members’ businesses.
“The meetings could be coming together for dinner and discussing business issues, touring a fellow member’s business or whatever the group would like to do,” said Majure-Rhett.
At larger Chamber events, Liaisons will serve as a point of contact for members, providing introductions and helping members get to know one another.
Martha Harlan, Director of Public Relations and Marketing at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, will serve as chair of the Chamber Liaisons in its inaugural year.
