A harmless attack on the Battleship
On a perfect Veteran’s Day morning aboard the Battleship North Carolina, PPD CEO David Grange, a former brigadier general in the Army, fielded an attack from a “Navy” bird to the sleeve. The harmless attack followed a series of heroic stories from cancer survivors, heart and lung transplant recipients and a young blind man, all who will compete on Saturday’s PPD Beach2Battleship triathlon. The unexpected incident punctuated the message of the day: train hard now to be able to roll with the unforeseeable. Finding humor, and a dry cleaner, along the way doesn’t hurt either.

They went that-a-way
As part of the city’s downtown streetscape project, the city put up some of the new navigation maps along Front Street at the mid-block crossings. The new maps point out attractions as well as points of interest like the post office, the new convention center and public restrooms. The signs also point out sites of historic interest, public parking, theaters, parking and ATMs.
