Business professionals can now enroll for the fall session of UNCW’s Business Certificate program. Classes begin Wednesday, Sept. 8 and run through Monday, Nov. 22. But participants must register by tomorrow, Sept. 1.
The eleven-week course covers advanced business topics including leadership, strategic management, decision making, financial analysis, accounting, operations, business and contract law, human resource management, technology and entrepreneurship.
Program instructors include various business school faculty, including Dean of the Cameron Business School Larry Clark and director of the Global Business Initiative Joe Dougherty. The class is limited to about 12 to 16 students. “We keep it small to create a more intimate and discussion-based learning environment,” said Jonathan Rowe, director of the UNCW Entrepreneurship Center.
Each week focuses on a different business topic. This year, the program culminates with a final project where teams build and manage a business through simulation technology. Upon completion, program participants receive an Advanced Certificate in Business Administration from UNCW.
Local companies have sent employees through this program including PPD, Inc., GE Hitachi, Corning, the city of Wilmington, Intracoastal Realty, Sun Trust Bank and Wachovia, Rowe said.
Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. on the UNCW Campus in the Computer and Information Systems Building, Room 1007. The program costs $1,095. For more information, visit www.uncw.edu/bcert or call (910) 962-2237.
