33rd Annual Business Week: Connecting Current and Future Business Leaders

Sponsored Content provided by Robert Burrus - Dean , Cameron School of Business - UNC-Wilmington

For 32 consecutive years, the Cameron School of Business has hosted Business Week for students. Business Week is designed to provide an original and engaging experience for CSB students, while helping to prepare them for the realities of the business world after graduation. We are pleased to continue this tradition with our 33rd annual Business Week event to be held the week of March 23, 2015.

The annual success of this event hinges on the support that Cameron receives from the Wilmington business community. Over the years, the Cameron faculty has developed strong relationships with businesses in the Southeast region. A large number of area businesses contribute as both sponsors and presenters each year, and we are proud to announce that Live Oak Bank is this year’s grand sponsor. Through these mutually beneficial partnerships, businesses are provided with an occasion to generate company awareness and to reach students as a prospective workforce. Students, in turn, are given a unique learning opportunity and exposure to these companies. This experience provides students with invaluable access to professional insights and a chance to ask questions, as well as receive career advice.

This year’s Business Week program will feature more than 100 sessions with prominent UNCW alumni and business executives from the community and surrounding areas. Presenters share their perceptions and personal experiences in the areas of business, marketing, entrepreneurship, accounting, finance, information technology, operations and more. Additionally, the annual conference features keynote addresses by prominent businessmen and women. Notable keynote speakers in past years have included Rick Wagoner, former CEO of General Motors; Elisabeth Struckell, former vice president of business development for Pepsico; and Donald Kohn, former vice chairman of the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System.

The speaker sessions for CSB students will take place on March 24 and March 25, 2015. In addition to these sessions, there will be various other events including the CSB Outstanding Alumni Breakfast, the BB&T Capitalism Lecture, and a finance panel discussion hosted by the MBA Association. A small sampling of Wilmington-area business participants include Live Oak Bank, OrthoWilmington, Castle Branch, nCino, PPD, Victaulic, Kalabur, CloudWyze, Blu Zeus, Dry Corp., Sage Island, Sherwin Williams, AlphaCM, New Potato Technologies, Wilmington Financial Group, Phoenix Employment Ministry and Velocity Solutions.
