Back in April, my company set out to find the best places to work in the region but wanted to do it a little differently.
 
So, we reached out to find the only opinion that mattered – the workers’. In addition to the job seekers registered on our site, we polled our social media followers and subscribers through email marketing and came up with our First Annual Best Places to Work List.
 
While some may say our poll did not include everyone, my response would be that you should follow us and have your voices heard. Cape Fear Jobs speaks for both the employer and the job seeker through our followers and members, trying to give that above-mentioned “everyone” a fair chance.
 
If you missed out on this opportunity to give your input, there will be plenty more down the road, so be sure to follow our social media pages and become a member of our website, where there is still no fee.
 
For this list, we set no criteria set, no rules, no exceptions. We just simply asked, “Where is the best place to work?” In early May, we began to tally the votes. While there were votes for over 60 companies around the region, only 10 could make the list. Each of the winning top 10 companies were given individual showcases on our social media pages, unlimited free job postings on our Job Board, a label for their website and a small acknowledgement plaque.
 
So, head over to our Facebook or LinkedIn page, where you can see not only the top 10 winners (in no specific order) but also the individual spotlight for each winning employer.  

I will run this contest annually for the overall regional top 10, in addition to adding some “specialty lists” throughout the year, such as: Restaurant; Bar & Tavern; Hotel & Resort; Law Firms; and Healthcare, just to name a few.
 
I want these lists to make a big impact, but I can’t do it without the help of the entire community. My company is the vehicle to make this happen to help draw attention to our great employers from not only the job seekers here but also those that choose to relocate to our region. These lists could be available for publication in relocation guides and area media outlets, by the Chamber of Commerce and for various other marketing purposes.
 
In the short amount of time I have contributed to Insights, I hope that one thing has been made perfectly clear, and that is that I care. I care deeply and passionately about the job market in the Cape Fear region. I care about each employer, no matter how big or small, and I care about every job seeker, no matter their status, title or need.
