IT Works

David Reeser, who heads up Wilmington based IT Works, works entirely in the cloud. “This makes it possible to access my data, music and do whatever I want to from any device no matter where I find myself. I’ve already kayaked to Masonboro Island and worked from the beach with only a phone as my computer.”

Reads the Greater Wilmington Business Journal “and the rest of my news I get online every morning.”

Go-to podcasts include TED Radio Hour “I love to learn, and the topics they cover are fascinating” and Bethel Podcast, from Bethel Church, “best sermons outside of LifeCC [Life Community Church].”

Looks at the more positive videos on YouTube. “I enjoy watching YouTube videos on restoring faith in humanity. It’s inspiring to see people caught in the act of greatness.”

For books, is a fan of those “about false utopias” such as The Giver by Lois Lowry, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins and 1984 by George Orwell.

Movie picks are The Goonies, The Breakfast Club, The Count of Monte Cristo “and The Notebook – really.”

Favorite app is Blinkist, which summarizes top nonfiction books – more than 2,000 best-sellers are available – into 15-minute digests that users can read or listen to. The app, Reeser says, “allows me to ‘read’ a book every day.”

His digital device recommendation is to step back. “Yes, put them away when you get home. Kids spell love like this: T.I.M.E.”
