John Berry
Retired from IBM

Wilmington resident John Berry retired after 32 years with IBM. He held various technical and management roles with the company, primarily in software development and software technical sales. He currently works with UNCW business school students as a Cameron Executive Network mentor.

Regularly reads Boating magazine and Power & Motoryacht –“I am a boat nut.”

Online he checks out MSNBC and Fox News, in part to “see the contrast in reporting on the same events!”

Watches HGTV, Comedy Central (The Daily Show), HBO (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Game of Thrones) and broadcast NFL games.

Book recommendations include Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child (Pendergast and Crew series), and anything by Wilmington’s own Celia Rivenbark. Berry is currently reading One Nation After Trump: A Guide for the Perplexed, the Disillusioned, the Desperate, and the Not-Yet Deported by E.J. Dionne et al.

Movie picks cover old WWII classics like Operation Petticoat and Father Goose; brainless 1980s comedies such as Animal House and The Blues Brothers; and sci-fi action/thrillers a la Alien and Star Wars.

Most-used apps are for online banking and Quicken, WECT First Alert Weather, WiFi Finder, Sling TV for entertainment, LinkedIn and Facebook.
