Charrise Hart’s organization leads programs and services organized around racial justice, economic advancement, youth development and health and wellness for more than 2,000 local residents each year. The YWCA Lower Cape Fear’s mission of “eliminating racism and empowering women” enables it to expand outreach and enhance services to improve the health and well-being of women, children and families across the Cape Fear region.
 
Favorite TV channels or shows: I love anything on ESPN, TV One, and The History Channel. Favorite TV Game Shows include Jeopardy and Family Feud.
 
Favorite recent movie: Black Panther – I enjoyed the innovative technology and how women were encouraged and empowered to have leadership roles throughout the film.
 
App recommendations: Amazon Prime hands down. MyBeeHyve, a local startup company that is a finalist for an NC IDEA grant, helps Hart "to organize my contacts, and my daily ‘To Do’ Lists – it’s so easy to use."
 
Audible is another favorite app for Hart. "Since I am constantly in my car, my Audible app comes in handy quite often. The most recent books I have listened to are Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us, by Daniel H. Pink, and Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person, by Shonda Rhimes."
