A popular Carolina Beach restaurant is opening its second location in downtown Wilmington.
Sean Cook, co-owenr of Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar with Matt Picinnin, confirmed Monday that the locally based seafood eatery is opening its newest venture at 109 Market St. in the former Green’s Grille location.
Chuck Lydon and W. Tyler Pegg, brokers with Wilmington-based Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Partners, completed the long-term lease agreement.
Cook said the restaurant would open Nov. 1. He said Carolina Beach-based Farriss Hospitality will provide the restaurant’s equipment. Cook added he is also working with designers to develop the restaurant's theme, which he said would be "very similar" to the vibe in Carolina Beach.
"We're going to take it one step at a time," Cook said. "This is going to be a very fun place."
Cook said with talk of a minor league stadium possibly being constructed downtown, plus ongoing infrastructure upgrades to Third Street and other revitalization projects, like the South Front apartment renovations – now was the time to move on the venture's location in Wilmington.
Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar’s Carolina Beach location, which first opened in 2007, features a number of seafood dishes that include oysters, shrimp and crab. The restaurant also has a full service bar equipped with various beers on draft.
