UNC basketball coach Roy Williams will be in Wilmington on Oct. 8, speaking at a lunch event at the Wilmington Convention Center, organizers announced Monday.
The Greater Wilmington Business Journal is putting on the event in partnership with the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame as part of the publication’s regular Power Breakfast Series, according to a press release.
Williams has been the men’s basketball coach at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 2003, previously coaching at the University of Kansas. While coaching at UNC, Williams’ teams have won two NCAA championships – in 2005 and 2009.
The Oct. 8 talk also will mark the launch of the Greater Wilmington Sports Club, an initiative of the Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame.
The new sports club is slated to hold speaker lunches, including high school, college and professional sports figures, on the first Friday of every month between September and May, the press release stated.
The Oct. 8 lunch is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m., with the program starting at 12:30 p.m. For more information, go to www.LunchWithRoy.com.
