UNCW’s Watson School of Education (WSE) and Cape Fear Future (CFF) have jointly introduced a new web-based resource to maximize teacher/parent access and student use of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs across the region.

On the new site, www.uncw.edu/ed/stem, one can find leadership incentives and programs designed to enhance the learning experiences of children throughout the community.

The program began in the fall and winter months of 2010 when CFF met with Susan Finley of the WSE, both with the idea to make access to information regarding STEM programs in the area more accessible. “It was originally set up so any information had to be accessed by going through the Chamber of Commerce website,” CFF program director Sallie Smyth said. “We want to make a site that makes information easier to navigate.”

While WSE staff and graduate students will be updating the web base, CFF will be implementing the original content and information while monitoring solicitation and feedback. The site went live Wednesday. “The website contains a healthy list of programs accessible for parents and teachers alike,” Smyth said.
