The Gap moving into Mayfaire

Mayfaire welcomes a big, new retailer next month when The Gap, Gap Kids and Baby Gap move into a 9,000-square-foot space on Main Street across the street from Banana Republic.
Mayfaire moved the Town View sales office into the main Mayfaire administrative offices to help make room for the Gap next to Talbots. The store will soak up some of the space The Sharper Image vacated.
“It’s going to be a great compliment, said Paige McKenzie, Mayfaire director of marketing. “We’ve needed more children’s clothing options.” Baby Gap also helps give the retail center an infant clothing option McKenzie said Mayfaire has needed.
“It will be great to add that to the center,” she said.
Coastal Urge also is working on an upfit to move the “active coastal lifestyle” store to Mayfaire from Landfall Center, said owner Jeoffrey Nathan.
Coastal Urge takes up about 2,000 square feet in the former Kirkland’s space in the first block of Main Street. The store is moving from its Landfall Center location that was about 17,00 square feet, Nathan said.
“We’ve been looking over there for a while,” Nathan said. “Mayfaire is the shopping destination for Wilmington and eastern North Carolina.”
“It’s the most popular place to shop in Wilmington.”
