On Oleander Drive in Wilmington, a furniture and mattress store has opened in the facillity where Lou's Flower World used to be.

The new Wilmington store, in 18,000 square feet at 5128 Oleander Drive, is the fourth North Carolina location for American Freight Furniture and Mattress, according to a news release.

The release stated that American Freight Furniture and Mattress opened July 12. Lou's Flower World closed last year.

Located between Clayton Homes and Oleander Storage II across from Hughes Gardening, the store opened July 12 and will create 10 to 15 new jobs, the release stated.

“We look forward to providing the Wilmington community with an option for quality furniture and mattresses at everyday low prices, offering same-day delivery and easy payment options,” said Tom McMillan, vice president, in the release.

The company, which is leasing the Oleander Drive space, was founded in 1994 and has 160 stores.

Offerings at the Wilmington store, according to the release, include living room and bedroom furniture; mattresses; and accessories.
