Frequent flyers may soon notice a new look to the Wilmington International Airport brand.

Airport officials recently released the look of its new logo, and with it, plans to refresh its website and other marketing materials over the course of 18 months, airport director Julie Wilsey said.

“As an organization, we decided to go through to develop a new logo and to develop new branding to reflect the unique attributes of ILM airport and our surrounding community,” Wilsey said about rebranding efforts. “We’re really looking for a brand that feels welcoming [and] relaxed, that is also efficient and will invoke a pleasant experience of flying."

July 1 marked the start of ILM’s regular strategic marketing process, Wilsey said. The airport is now going through new commercial development and a revamp of its website, which could be completed by the end of the year.

New logo rollsout will be incremental, starting in digital formats, Wilsey said. ILM's current logo was modified in the early 2000s, but the new logo is completely different for ILM, she added.

“Things need to be updated from time to time. Certainly, our community is changing. The needs of our passengers are changing, and we want to look and feel more welcoming,” Wilsey said.

Carol LeTellier, business development director for ILM, and Erin McNally, ILM’s marketing specialist, are leading the project for the airport. Wilsey said the airport has also contracted with Morvil Advertising + Design Group to help with the rebranding project.
