Take A Walk To Local Movie Sites In Town Of Burgaw

By Laura Moore, posted Sep 18, 2020
The town of Burgaw might seem a long way from California’s Tinseltown, but it has been a star in its own right as the backdrop to many Hollywood films. Now, movie buffs can visit these locations on their own.

Pender County Tourism announced the launch of Pender County Film Tours with the Hometown Hollywood Film Tour in downtown Burgaw.

The Pender County Tourism department created the Hometown Hollywood Film Tour, a walking tour based on the locations from well-known films and TV series filmed within Pender County, focusing on the historic downtown area of Burgaw, the Courthouse Square and familiar storefronts.

“We are excited to introduce this Downtown Burgaw Walking Film Tour,” said Olivia Dawson of Pender County Tourism. “Pender County and the town of Burgaw have been popular locations sought out for many films and television series.”

Shops, parks, schools, street corners, Courthouse Square and more are backdrops for dozens of productions, including Stephen King’s Silver Bullet (1985), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), The Runaway (2000), The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002), Idlewild (2006), Tammy (2014) and TV series Revolution (2012) and Under the Dome (2013).
