Nunalee Pediatric Clinics Move Into Autumn Hall

By Ken Little, posted Jul 14, 2017
The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Nunnelee Pediatric Specialty Clinics relocated last month to Autumn Hall.

The clinics outgrew their former space in the NHRMC Betty H. Cameron Women’s & Children’s Hospital, officials said.

The Nunnelee clinics now occupy the entire second floor of the NHRMC Medical Services at Autumn Hall building off Eastwood Road, 510 Carolina Bay Drive, more than doubling its size to better serve pediatric patients and their families with highly specialized outpatient care, according to a news release.

“When we opened, we had about 5,000 patient visits a year. We now average 27,000 patient visits a year so there is clearly a need for specialized care in our region,”
Vanessa Van Gilder, manager of the Nunnelee Pediatric Specialty Clinics, said in the release.

The new facility combines clinical services from a team of more than 20 physician specialists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and providers from NHRMC and Coastal Children’s Services.

The new location is 20,000 square feet, up from its former location of 8,500 square feet. The facility includes 39 examination rooms, triple the existing 13 exam rooms and six nurse’s stations, up from one nurse’s station in the former location.

The clinic continues to offer pediatric services for children with a wide range of medical conditions including cardiology, cleft and craniomaxillofacial surgery; endocrinology; gastroenterology and feeding; hematology; neonatal intensive care development; neurology; neurosurgery; pediatric surgery; and pulmonology.

Nunnelee providers are coordinating inpatient medical treatment through the Women’s & Children’s Hospital. The project was designed by LS3P and Monteith Construction was the contractor.

The total cost of the project, including construction, equipment, furniture and permitting, was $3.1 million.
