National emergency medicine consulting firm T-System Inc. recently presented the emergency department at Dosher Memorial Hospital an award for “excellence in sustainable outcomes for 2015,” a news release stated.

“Dosher stood out among the many applications we received. We were impressed by your compelling story of success in emergency care and proud that T-System was able to play a role in helping you achieve that success,” Roger Davis, CEO of T-System, wrote to Dosher officials.

The T-System Excellence Awards Program recognizes a small number of hospitals from among its more than 1,900 hospitals, freestanding emergency centers and primary and urgent care facility clients in the U.S.

It is the second straight year that Dosher Memorial was recognized by T-System for improving patient outcomes and the third time in the past five years.  

“We’ve made continuous improvement reducing the rate of patients who leave without being evaluated by the physician, getting patients to the doctor faster and improving clinical documentation. T-System was impressed with our progress,” JoAnn Turzer-Commesso, Dosher’s emergency department director, said in the release. 

The firm also presented a $500 donation to the Dosher Hospital Foundation in the name of the emergency department.

The emergency department at Dosher is open around the clock every day of the year and treats more than 13,000 patients annually.
