A Wilmington-based company recently reached a significant milestone.

Archer Healthcare’s nurse call center played a crucial role in helping Salix Pharmaceuticals’ Hepatic Encephalopathy Living Program, known as H.E.L.P, enroll its 20,000th participant in November, according to the company.

Archer Healthcare, a division of AOS Research Services, is located at 361 N. Front St. on the top floor of The Cotton Exchange in downtown Wilmington.

Started in 2010, H.E.L.P. provides support to individuals living with hepatic encephalopathy, a condition that occurs when a cirrhotic liver can no longer filter toxins in the body, allowing those toxins to reach the brain. For patients, this results in loss of brain function and symptoms similar to Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Archer Healthcare has been doing business in Wilmington since 1999 and currently has about 75 employees.

The company works with 22 clients from its Wilmington office, said Christine Strahley, vice president of client services, said in an email response to questions.

Archer Healthcare offers health care clients a variety of cost-effective strategies to access and manage their relationships with physicians, health care professionals and patients, Strahley said.

“Our programs enable clients to engage physicians and patients in active discussions about products and services. We assist our clients in addressing the critical challenges they face in maintaining and growing Rx share,” she said.

Each client “faces different challenges based on a variety of factors such as product life cycle, competitive brands, drug class and patient demographics. We work with clients to develop and execute tele-strategies that make sense for their specific brand,” Strahley said.

Archer Healthcare services include patient concierge programs, tele-sales and tele-detailing for pharmaceutical brands, RN Answers 24/7 Nurse support Lines, adherence programs, patient and HCP toll-free customer service and support services.

Archer Healthcare was founded by industry professionals “who believed they could build an organization that provided clients with proactive services, timely results and high-quality promotional programs. Through a combination of people, technology and industry experience, that’s exactly what we have done,” Strahley said.

Archer has supported programs for Top 10, mid-sized and emerging pharmaceutical companies, in addition to medical device companies for blockbuster launch products and mature brands about to go off patent.
